The 106th World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2020.

Warm greetings from EC-JP, CBCB! “Forced like Jesus Christ to flee” is the title chosen by His Holiness Pope Francis for the annual message for the 106th World Day of Migrants and Refugees which will be celebrated on 27 September 2020. The message will focus on the pastoral care of internally displaced people (IDPs), who currently number over 41 million worldwide.

We have known and experienced that the COVID 19 crisis has globally impacted the entire human society.  In Asian countries the most affected are the Migrants, Refugees, the Trafficked and the Displaced Persons. However we are also witnessing that various organizations specially the local churches are extending their whole hearted care and services towards the most affected during this pandemic crisis. The post pandemic challenges are even greater, demanding deeper reflections and planned strategies to address the crisis with greater preparation at local and regional levels.

Hence EC-JP, CBCB is going to organize meetings, seminars, group discussions and mini research/data collection using social media.

Objectives:

1.      To plan the 106th World Day of Migrants and Refugees which will be celebrated on 27 September 2020, titled “Forced like Jesus Christ to flee” focusing on the pastoral care of internally displaced people (IDPs).

2.      Finding and sharing the “Signs of Resurrection” experienced in the current crisis (during and post-pandemic). Many forms of concrete assistance rendered, challenges faced and strategies planned to continue the care of Migrants, Refugees, Displaced and the Trafficked.

3.      Sharing Experiences (stories & challenges) in dealing with Migrants, Refugees, the Displaced and the Trafficked during the pandemic.

4.      Sharing Post pandemic crisis- challenges foreseen, strategies and plans to deal with.

5.      Networking with partners national and international.

6.      Mini research/data/collection/publication-WEEKLY PROTIBESHI, 21-27 September 2020 for pastoral care of Migrants, Refugees, Displaced and the Trafficked.

Hence we request you kindly to take initiative & plan for the 106th World Day of Migrants and Refugees  day which will be celebrated on 27 September 2020, titled “Forced like Jesus Christ to flee” focusing on the pastoral care of internally displaced people (IDPs) in your Diocese, community, institution and parish.

May HE continue to shine on us so that we can reflect HIS image in our work and relationships.

With prayerful regards,

Fr. Liton Hubert Gomes, CSC
